HORSEMANSHIP / PROBLEM SOLVING
This is our most popular class. We work on developing the skills to help you and your horse communicate better. By teaching people to communicate with their horses at the horses level, rather than trying to force the horse to submit to our wishes which will never yield good results. Horses, just like people get stuck sometimes and need to understand that they don't have to fear certain situations. They need to feel confident that their human won't hurt them. Lots of things are spooky to a horse until he understands that he can trust the human. If you learn how the horse thinks, then you can communicate on his level and understand each other better. Your relationship will become a partnership where you are working together.
- Helping you get your horse to want to be with you rather than back to the barn or out with the herd.
- Teaching your horse to yield from your legs, reins, and hands.
- Teaching students proper timing and release of pressure which will accelerate your horses' learning time, at whatever movement you are working on.

HORSEMANSHIP / CATTLE WORKING
This will be a horsemanship class with the emphasis on low stress cattle handling techniques. We will be teaching our horses to hook-on to a cow. To watch and rate the cow and to move within a herd without stirring them up. Most folks can't afford, or have the know how to own a world class cutting horse, but with a little understanding of basic stockmanship, good results are obtainable for anybody and their horse. Our main goal is to make this a really enjoyable experience for you and your horse so that when your horse sees a cow he'll think, "Oh Boy! This is going to be fun!"

RANCH ROPING
When they think of roping, most folks have this picture in their mind of a rodeo where cowboys are going at top speed against the clock jerking the calf down, without much regard for the animal. That's not what this class is about. I'd like to share some of the skills that have been used by stockmen who cared for their animals and needed to get the job done with the minimum amount of stress possible. Be it horses, cattle or just for fun. A little knowledge of handling a rope can take you a long way to becoming a better stockman. We will be working on basic roping techniques on the ground and in the saddle to get you and your horse comfortable with handling a rope. We are placing an order from King's Saddlery for ropes if anyone wants to go in on it, let me know.

COLT STARTING
Getting a good start on your young horse and the basics done right will save you so much training time down the road regardless of what your horse will be used for later! Humans need to see through the horses' eyes to understand how they feel and how to communicate better. If you know the language it's so much easier to communicate with each other. Tune into your horses' feelings. Colts need to get used to lots of different things. Mostly, they need to understand that they can trust the human to feel safe. Understanding the round pen and how to use it. Halter and groundworking. Keeping the head and neck supple. Moving softly and yielding to pressure. Getting accustomed to the saddle and rider on his back.
